Oven-Baked Potatoes

If you have the time, the best way to bake a potato is in the oven. My quick fix has always been to poke a few potatoes and chuck them in the microwave, but there is nothing like having a perfectly oven-baked baked potato. Here in England they call them "jacket potatoes" and they load them up with things like baked beans, cole slaw, loads of cheddar cheese and so much more. The way I like them best is loaded up with bacon, cheese, and a dollup of sour cream, but the combinations are endless.

Ingredients:
baking potatoes
kitchen foil

Method:

Scrub and wash potatoes. Wrap with a piece of foil and bake at 350 F/180 C for 1 to 1.5 hours (depending on the size of your potatoes).

***Note: Be careful when handling and opening the foil from the potatoes because they will let off a lot of heat.

Also if you are adding cheese to your potato and would like a quick way to help it melt, take the piece of foil and wrap it over the top of your potato with the cheese on it and hold it for a few minutes to create a mini oven.
